What is the 80/20 rule?
It’s all about balance. It’s all about listening to your body and letting it indulge and enjoy, but also spending the majority of the time focusing on the “healthy”. It’s essentially eating “clean” or “healthy” 80% of the time, then having complete food freedom the other 20%.
What makes the 80/20 rule different from other diets?
There are no restrictions. There are no super strict rules to follow or foods that are off-limits. It’s completely focused on balance, and enjoying everything in moderation. Instead of getting upset with yourself over having a cookie and going "off" your diet, that cookie becomes part of your diet; it becomes part of that 20%. The 80/20 rule is more than a diet, it's a lifestyle.
But can I still achieve my goals while following the 80/20 rule?
Yes, you can. As long as you are eating healthy and clean the majority of the time, that 20% will not impact your goals – it will help you stay sane as you achieve them. Instead of heavily restricting yourself then falling into a binge eating cycle on the weekends, you get to enjoy that slice of pizza on a weekday and have peace of mind knowing it won’t affect your progress.
